This Chinese child's hat is constructed in the form of a tiger's head, with an orange silk face featuring embroidered eyes, whiskers, ears, and an open mouth with white teeth, all rendered with considerable detail and color. The brim is composed of black silk panels appliquéd with embroidered roundels in blue, green, and multicolor, edged in lace trim, and finished at the base with a band of purple velvet. A curled orange and black tail rises from the crown, completing the three-dimensional animal form.
