This mounted photograph by Robert C. Price depicts an Acoma dancer standing outdoors against an adobe architectural setting. Acoma Pueblo, in present-day New Mexico, is one of the long-established Pueblo communities of the Southwest, and the image belongs to the early photographic record of Pueblo ceremonial dress and public cultural representation at the turn of the twentieth century. The dancer holds what appears to be a gourd rattle, with evergreen boughs, body adornment, and dance clothing visible.
The full-length composition gives attention to posture, dress, and setting rather than isolating the sitter as a studio portrait. As a period photograph, it records Acoma Pueblo dance attire with clear regional and cultural specificity. The print is in collector condition with private Phoenix provenance.
