Apache
Arizona
Circa 1900
2 1/4" x 10"
Provenance: Diane Luther, NM
This large, flat Apache coiled tray has a complex radiating design worked outward from a dense central star motif in dark devil's claw, with geometric figures that expand in concentric rings toward the rim. The patterning is finely executed, with the dark elements covering a substantial portion of the surface and a secondary band of small repeating figures running near the outer edge. A metal collection tag numbered 305 is visible on the interior, and the coiling throughout is exceptionally tight and even, consistent with the finest Apache work of the period.
