Circa 1900
Nickel silver with glass inlay
Length 36 1/2 inches (92.7 cm)
Provenance: Joyal Arnold, Honolulu, Hawaii
Seven shaped pendants hang from a cord wrapped in coiled metal wire, the three central ones built as broad plaques with lobed shoulders and set with panels of amber, red, and turquoise coloured glass. Each pendant carries a fringe of small ball drops suspended on wire loops, so the whole front row moves and sounds with the wearer. The plaques are decorated with stamped and punched detail around the settings, and the reverse of each is left plain, showing the flat sheet the fronts were raised from.
