This large Chancay effigy vessel has a globular dark-slipped body with a cylindrical neck surmounted by a modeled human face with large almond eyes and incised facial markings, the face and neck in cream slip contrasting strongly against the dark brown body. The body is decorated with painted geometric bands in cream depicting arms, hands, and leg elements in a schematic figural arrangement, and a small modeled lizard climbs the left shoulder of the vessel. The base of the vessel is left in natural cream clay, creating a two-tone effect that is characteristic of Chancay ceramic production.
