Provenance: Lucia Meza, Whittier, California, acquired 1960s; San Diego trade
The figure has a broad, heart shaped head with a smooth, downward angled face, closed or downcast eyes, a small nose, and small ear ornaments on either side. A cylindrical opening is set at the crown of the head, identifying the piece as a vessel. The torso displays a crossed diagonal pattern in dark red pigment across the chest, bordered by a dotted band around the neck.
Below the chest, rows of small cream colored dots cover the lower torso, separated by horizontal painted bands. The figure is seated, with one leg extended forward showing modeled toes. The glossy reddish orange slip and cream decoration remain well preserved across most of the surface.
