Each earring takes the form of a butterfly, its four wings cut from salmon coral and held in place by fine claw settings that follow the natural curve of each piece. The body between them is enamelled in a graded run of purple, blue, and green, with two small orange dots for the eyes, and the antennae are drawn out in wire and turned into tight spirals above the head. The coral shows the pale flecking and small natural pits of the untreated material, so no two wings across the pair are quite alike.
