A contemporary studio pendant in the form of a katsina figure, built from sterling silver and brass with a wide brass tube bail. The silver face is cut with angled eyes and a triangular nose over a blackened body worked with applied silver granulation and raised brass spirals, flanked by stepped brass headdress elements and tablita forms. It is signed with the initial M, and the mixed metal surfaces are finished with intentional oxidation and patina.
The piece draws on katsina imagery in a modern, sculptural idiom rather than a traditional carving or overlay style. The construction combines fabricated silver, brass sheet, and applied wirework, hung from a heavy hinged bail scaled to the pendant. Materials and workmanship are consistent with recent studio production.
