A fine example of exceptional form, polish, and unusual obsidian-like stone. Most likely a symbol of authority, the sculptural power of this piece is commanding and tied to an ancient mythos. In over forty years of handling this type of material, I have never handled a finer example. 19th-century label stating this was obtained in Lima Peru in1890 on interior.
