Gene Autry (1907 to 1998) was the singing cowboy of American film, radio, and television, star of more than ninety features and the long-running Gene Autry Show, and the writer or performer of standards including Back in the Saddle Again. He later owned the California Angels baseball club, and his career made him one of the most recognizable western performers of the twentieth century. Signed photographs inscribed to named recipients date from his decades of active fan correspondence.
