The card presents a stereoscopic pair of sepia toned photographs mounted side by side on yellow card stock, showing a group of men and one woman posed at the entrance of a mine excavation. Several figures stand or sit on heavy timber beams braced across the opening, holding picks and shovels, while two men work below in the excavated pit. A printed plate number appears in the lower corner of the right hand image.
The card stock shows a small area of foxing and staining in the upper left corner, with the overall image remaining clear and well defined. The piece was previously in the collection of Jim and Evelyn Wright of Westminster, Colorado.
