This poster was produced in the 1930s as part of New Zealand's government-sponsored tourism campaign, promoting travel by ocean liner and rail to international visitors. The image depicts two Maori figures in traditional dress against a geothermal landscape, with the Maori greeting "Haere Mai" (Welcome) prominently displayed. Posters of this period were printed in small runs for display in travel agencies, shipping offices, and railway stations, and surviving originals are significantly scarcer than the mass-produced reproductions that circulate today.
