This stone pendant in the form of a parrot dates to the Hohokam culture, circa 1300 AD. Parrots were among the most prized exotic animals in the prehistoric Southwest and appear frequently in Hohokam iconography and as effigy forms. This example is slightly larger than typical miniature pendants of the type, with proportions that emphasize the bird's profile. Not found on federal or state land.
