This narrow Hopi cuff is made using silver overlay, the technique for which Hopi silversmiths are known. Geometric motifs are cut from an upper layer of silver, which is soldered over a lower sheet, and the recessed background is oxidized dark and textured so the bright polished design stands out above it. The result is a crisp two tone contrast of pattern against shadow across the slim band, worked entirely in silver without stones.
