A figural pin depicting a standing Mud Man, worked as a sterling silver cutout with a rounded head, applied domed eyes and mouth, a topknot, and side hair bundles. A neckerchief, cuff bands, and a kilt with an oxidized woven sash panel are detailed with darkened recesses in the Hopi overlay manner, setting off the raised silver. The figure carries an even age patina and comes on a custom museum display mount.
Larry Frank was a Taos collector and scholar, co-author of Indian Silver Jewelry of the Southwest 1868 to 1930 and New Kingdom of the Saints.
