A Hopi katsina dating to circa 1900, from the collection of Elizabeth Willis De Huff, an artist, educator, and author closely associated with the development of Native American easel painting in Santa Fe during the early 20th century. De Huff taught painting to students in her home after arts instruction was restricted at the Santa Fe Indian School, and her circle included important Native artists such as Fred Kabotie and Otis Polelonema. This katsina remained in her family collection by descent.
