The mace head is worked from a hard mottled green stone with a broad cylindrical bore running through the center for the haft, the opening finished with a raised collar at each end. Between the collars a single register of rounded knobs stands out from the body in two staggered rows, each knob smoothed rather than faceted so the light moves across them in soft transitions. The surface is a pale grey green flecked with darker inclusions and shows fine granular pitting overall, with the collar rims worn lower than the knobs where the haft bore against them.
