Navajo
Southwest
Sterling silver and turquoise
Total circumference 8 in (20.3 cm), gap 1 1/4 in (3.2 cm), width 3/4 in (1.9 cm); 64.06 grams
Provenance: Private collection, Taos, NM
This Navajo cuff sets three oval turquoise stones in a row, graduated in size and running from blue to green with natural brown matrix. Each stone sits in a serrated bezel, with small stamped silver rosettes placed between and beside the stones as accents. The stones are matched closely enough in tone to read as a deliberate set rather than a chance grouping.
The band is built from twisted cable wire flanked by stamped silver, giving the cuff its name and a strong ridged profile. At just over 64 grams the piece has real weight for its 3/4 inch width, concentrated in the wire construction rather than a broad sheet of silver. The 8 inch circumference with a 1 1/4 inch gap suits a medium wrist and adjusts through the open back.
