Three black and white photographs of Jimi Hendrix performing, shot from the floor in front of a darkened stage with the figure lit hard against black. The closest of the three catches him at the microphone with his head thrown back and his mouth open, the white Stratocaster held across his body and strung upside down for his left hand, with the arms of the audience blurred across the lower edge of the frame. The other two step back to full length, one showing him leaning into the guitar with the neck raised and one taken from further out with the stage lights breaking around him.
The prints are on 10 by 8 inch paper and are presented window matted. They were made in London in 1967, the year Hendrix based himself in the city, formed the Experience, and played the club and theatre dates that established him in Britain before his American reputation caught up. The photographer is not identified.
