This buckle carries a raised celestial face modeled in relief at one end, worked with one eye winking, the other open, and a broad smile. The face is finished in bright silver and set within a crescent, with a fan of pointed rays radiating off the upper edge. A ring of gold toned metal surrounds the face and carries the rays.
To the side of the face the buckle continues as a plain rectangular open frame with a center bar for fastening. The gold overlay covers the surround and frame while the modeled face stays bright, giving the piece its two tone finish. The reverse is signed by the maker.
