A large Rainbow Man pin, the Zuni guardian and rain figure worked in channel inlay against a silhouetted sterling silver body. The inlay runs across the headdress, body, and limbs in turquoise, mother of pearl, abalone, coral, and black jade, each section cut to shape and held in fine sawtooth bezels. The multi color stonework carries the sense of the rainbow that gives the figure its name.
Radiating bands of stamped silver feathers alternate with applied round raindrops, framing the figure in a wide aureole that gives the pin much of its scale and weight. At 4 3/4 inches high it is a large example of the form, worked by hand throughout. The silver carries a darkened patina in the recesses, and the inlay sits flush and evenly polished across the front.
