The sombrero has a tall peaked crown and a wide flat brim, worked in brown felted wool. A green textile band circles the base of the crown, mounted with a row of rectangular sterling silver plaques, and a leather chin strap runs beneath with a silver keeper. The inner leather sweatband carries a stamped mark, and the felt and band show wear, fraying, and soiling consistent with age and use.
