A group of paper armbands printed on newsprint and dating to 1910, the first year of the Mexican Revolution. Armbands of this kind were worn as improvised insignia, identifying allegiance to a faction, a town, or a civil body at a moment when uniforms were scarce and forces were assembling faster than they could be equipped. Newsprint was the cheapest stock available to the provincial presses that produced most revolutionary ephemera in those first months, which is why so much of the surviving material from 1910 is printed on it.
