This is an ancient Mimbres strand of stone disc beads, hand ground and drilled from a pale, quartz like stone. The beads graduate from smaller discs at the back to large discs across the front, each shaped and finished by hand. Worked stone bead strands of this kind are among the older forms of Southwestern ornament, made entirely by hand grinding and drilling around 1050 to 1175 AD.
