Navajo Blue Turquoise Ring, Silver Bead Surround

$550.00

Navajo

Circa 1934 or earlier

Sterling silver and turquoise

Ring size 11

Provenance: Ron Grenko, Albuquerque, NM

A large oval cabochon of blue turquoise, marked with tan matrix and dark inclusions across its face, is set in a plain silver bezel at the center of the ring. A heavy border of applied silver beads rings the setting completely, each bead rounded and hand formed so that no two sit quite alike. Documented as purchased in 1934, the ring dates to at or before that year; fine scratches cross the surface of the stone and green oxidation has formed in the silver at the lower edge of the bezel. In a US size 11 it is a wide, substantial ring made for wear.
