The buckle is a rectangular plate with a raised beaded border, worked with a horned lizard cast in relief and applied at the left of the face, its head, spines, and clawed feet fully modeled. To the right sits a large teardrop turquoise cabochon in a plain bezel with brown matrix running through the stone, above three small rectangular turquoise stones set in a row along the lower edge. Cast silver forms suggesting rocks and desert ground are scattered across the surface, and the field is darkened to throw the applied elements forward. The reverse is hallmarked.
