Navajo Double Cluster Turquoise Cuff Silver Rosette

$2,400.00

Navajo

Southwest

Sterling silver and turquoise

Total circumference 8 3/4 in (22.2 cm), gap 1 3/4 in (4.4 cm), width 1 1/2 in (3.8 cm); 77.03 grams

Provenance: Larry Frank, Taos, NM

This Navajo cuff carries two turquoise cluster rosettes side by side, each built around a large center stone ringed by teardrop and oval stones in plain bezels. The turquoise is a clear blue with light brown matrix, closely matched across both clusters so the two rosettes read as a pair. Each stone sits in its own bezel with no beadwork between them, letting the massed stones fill the front of the cuff.

The two rosettes are joined over a split triple band shank that separates below the clusters and runs to the terminals. At just over 77 grams across a 1 1/2 inch width, the cuff is a heavy, substantial piece with real presence on the wrist. The 8 3/4 inch circumference with a 1 3/4 inch gap suits a larger wrist and adjusts through the open back.

Larry Frank was a Taos collector and scholar, co-author of Indian Silver Jewelry of the Southwest 1868 to 1930 and New Kingdom of the Saints.
