$230.00

Navajo

1950s

Sterling silver and turquoise

Ring size 5

11.51 grams

Provenance: Private collection, Rio Rancho, NM

An elongated oval cabochon of green turquoise, mottled through with pale white and cream, is set upright in a plain silver bezel framed by a fine twisted rope. The two sides of the setting are worked differently, a heavy coiled silver rope running down one edge and an applied leaf stamped with chevrons down the other, with a single silver bead at the top. Dark tarnish sits in the recesses of the coil and stamping, and the stone is chipped at its lower edge where it meets the bezel. At 11.51 grams in a US size 5, it is a tall, asymmetric ring made for wear.
