This Navajo necklace sets green turquoise in scalloped silver bezels along the strand, each blossom station framed by a petaled, roped edge and flanked by silver blossom trumpets. A strand of round silver beads carries the row of stations down to a crescent naja that repeats the same scalloped settings, holding five more green stones across its face. The turquoise reads green with heavy matrix, cut as irregular natural cabochons rather than uniform ovals.
The roped, petaled bezels give each stone a framed setting characteristic of mid twentieth century Navajo work. The naja descends from Moorish metalwork and entered Navajo silver as both ornament and protective motif, here set to match the green stones of the blossoms. At 26 inches and 176 grams, the necklace has the weight and scale of a piece made to be worn for ceremony and display.
