Total circumference 7 1/2 in (19.1 cm), gap 1 1/2 in (3.8 cm), width 1 1/4 in (3.2 cm); 38.17 grams
Provenance: Private collection, Taos, NM
This early Navajo cuff is hand wrought from ingot silver, the wide band worked with deep parallel ridges that run its full length. A single diamond shaped turquoise stone, green with brown matrix, sits in a plain bezel at the center of the corrugated band. The heavy, slightly irregular ingot surface and bold ridging are characteristic of Navajo work of the 1920s, made from silver rolled by hand rather than commercial sheet.
