This Navajo cuff is built on a sand cast silver frame, poured into a carved tufa mold to produce its heavy, sculptural openwork form. A single oval turquoise stone, blue with golden brown matrix, sits in a serrated bezel at the center of the stepped cast band. The porous, hand finished surface and bold cast form are characteristic of Navajo tufa cast work of the 1940s.
