Navajo
1930s
Sterling silver and turquoise
Ring size 7
6.24 grams
Provenance: Private collection, Austin, TX
Seven turquoise stones are set across the face of the ring in serrated silver bezels, two long teardrops set opposite one another with five smaller rounds and ovals ranged between them. At the center the silver is worked into a raised coil that curls back on itself, with rounded silver bumps filling the outer spaces so the arrangement reads as scattered rather than symmetrical. The stones are pale blue-green and close in tone, and the open coiled construction keeps the ring light at 6.24 grams. In a US size 7 it is a sculptural ring made for wear.
