A pair of matching bird pins worked in cast openwork sterling silver, each shown in profile with an upturned fan of wing and tail bars and a small round eye. The bodies are pierced with an open circle at the breast, and the heavy cast forms carry the soft rounded edges of hand casting. Both are all silver with no stones, finished with a darkened patina consistent with age.
Larry Frank was a Taos collector and scholar, co-author of Indian Silver Jewelry of the Southwest 1868 to 1930 and New Kingdom of the Saints.
