This Navajo necklace hangs a mosaic thunderbird pendant from a stamped silver link chain. The thunderbird is built up in mosaic from turquoise across the body and wings, red shell at the head and tail, and a central checkerboard row of white mother of pearl and black jet, with a small turquoise eye. The chain is formed of flat stamped silver bars joined by round links, and at 18 inches with a 2 1/8 inch pendant it wears as a short, bold piece centered on the inlaid bird.
