Navajo
Southwest
1960s
Sterling silver and turquoise
Slide length 1 3/4 inches (4.4 cm), cord length 34 inches (86.4 cm)
Provenance: Private collection, Santa Barbara, California
The slide is small and worked vertically, six pieces of turquoise cut to fit against one another in a loose S curve, the larger stones pale and lightly webbed and the smaller ones set between them as fillers. Each stone sits in its own bezel and the whole is framed in twisted wire with a border of applied silver beads that scallops in and out to follow the shape rather than enclosing it in a plain outline. It runs on a braided black leather cord of 34 inches.
