This square buckle is set with a dense field of turquoise cabochons that cover nearly the entire face, the stones cut in a mix of round, oval, teardrop, and freeform shapes and ranging across bright and deeper blue tones with dark matrix. Small silver beads are set into the recesses between the stones, and a twisted rope border runs around the edge with a stamped rosette button at each corner. The silver has taken on a darkened patina in the low areas that sets off the polished stones, and the reverse is stamped with a maker hallmark and a number and retains its original hook and bar hardware for a belt.
