Image 1 1/2 by 3 inches, archival frame 13 by 15 inches

Provenance: Private collection, New England

This small drawing is worked in pen and ink on toned paper and shows a standing winged figure turned slightly to one side, the wings spread behind the shoulders and the head crowned with curling hair and turned back over one shoulder. The figure wears a short belted garment and stands with the weight settled onto one leg, one arm bent to hold a rounded looped form against the body while the other hangs at the side holding a slender object. Hatched pen lines model the drapery and limbs, and a large draped form fills the lower left of the sheet beside the figure. The sheet is set within a wide dark mat and a beaded silver toned frame.
