One of the defining works of 20th century printmaking, the Vollard Suite comprises 100 etchings produced by Picasso between 1930 and 1937 for the celebrated Parisian dealer Ambroise Vollard.
Printed in an edition of 260 on Montval laid paper bearing the Vollard watermark, with full deckled margins, and signed in pencil lower right by Picasso. The provenance connects this impression to Antonio Giulio Bragaglia, the pioneering Futurist photographer and theorist of fotodinamismo, who was a noted collector of modern works on paper in Rome. The Vollard Suite is held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the British Museum, London; the National Gallery of Canada; and major institutions worldwide.
