This large, wide Pima coiled bowl has gently flared walls that rise from a narrow flat base to a broad open rim, with an overall form that has deepened and darkened evenly with age. The exterior and interior walls are decorated with bold stepped key figures in dark devil's claw arranged in alternating panels around the full circumference, set against a natural willow ground that has taken on a rich warm tone throughout. A metal collection tag numbered 309 is present, and the coiling is exceptionally fine and tight across the entire surface, consistent with 19th-century Pima work at its most accomplished.
