This large Pima coiled olla has a full, rounded body that narrows at the neck before flaring to a wide open rim, following the classic olla form that Pima weavers developed for storage and water carrying. The entire exterior surface is covered in an allover pattern of interlocking geometric figures in dark devil's claw against the natural willow ground, the design maintained with exceptional consistency from the base through the shoulder and up the neck. At 19 inches in height this is a substantial example of the type, and the coiling throughout is fine and even, with the dark elements retaining strong color across the full surface.
