The strand is made up of short barrel cut beads of even size, drilled through the length and strung close together so the strand reads as a continuous column of brick red rather than as separate beads. The surface of each bead keeps the fine longitudinal grain and the small pits of the material, and the color deepens where the pits are set into the surface. It is strung on a twisted plant fiber cord, knotted at the top with the cut ends left long and loose rather than finished with a clasp.
