The fob is cast as a longhorn steer head with wide sweeping horns, suspended from a black leather strap with a nickel buckle for fastening through the waistcoat or belt. The silver carries a grey oxidized surface with wear to the high points of the horns and muzzle, and the leather is supple with creasing and buckle marks from use. Watch fobs of this pattern hung from the pocket watch chain as a handle and ornament.
