The note is headed Washington County Script and dated at Brenham, April 1st 1862, numbered 282, with a standing vignette of George Washington at the left edge and an ornate lettered ONE panel at the right. Across the center the word ONE is overprinted in red over the engraved text, which entitles the bearer to one dollar from the county treasury of Washington County, receivable for all county taxes and dues, above the signature of the county treasurer. The sheet is unfolded and clean with the printing sharp throughout, and the reverse carries TEXAS printed in green.
