A long oval cabochon of blue turquoise is set upright at the center of the ring in a twisted silver rope bezel, encircled by sixteen teardrop cabochons radiating outward. Each surrounding stone sits in a serrated silver bezel, with round silver beads set between the mounts around the outer edge. A fracture runs lengthwise through the central stone, and the silver shows a soft aged patina throughout. In a US size 12 at 21.25 grams, it is a wide, domed ring made for wear.
Larry Frank was a collector and scholar based in Taos, New Mexico, and the author of Indian Silver Jewelry of the Southwest, 1868 to 1930 and New Kingdom of the Saints.
