This Zuni necklace centers on a round silver disc pendant set with a raised inlaid bear figure in geometric multi stone channel inlay. The bear is built from turquoise, coral, lapis, shell, and mother of pearl in an abstract blocked pattern, set against the plain domed silver disc. Three inlaid silver feather drops hang beneath the disc, and the pendant hangs from a stamped silver bail on a strand of turquoise nuggets and silver beads.
The blocked, geometric inlay and the modern silver disc setting mark this as contemporary Zuni studio work rather than a traditional figural fetish. The inlay is fitted flush in the Zuni lapidary manner, each piece cut to shape and set without gaps. At 28 inches with a 6 3/4 inch pendant and just over 205 grams, it is a substantial statement necklace built around the inlaid bear.
