This rectangular buckle is covered in geometric mosaic inlay set flush into sterling silver channels. The face is divided into a grid of panels, each filled with stepped triangles and fine comb like ray patterns, worked in turquoise, coral, white mother of pearl, and black jet. The dark jet forms the narrow channels that separate the shapes, and a twisted rope border runs around the edge of the buckle. The inlay holds a level polished surface across the whole face, and the silver framing has softened to a gray patina. The reverse is signed Leander and Lisa Othole, Zuni, New Mexico, and retains its hook and bar hardware for a belt.
