The elongated oval face of the ring is built in two tiers, with a border of some two dozen teardrop turquoise cabochons radiating outward from an inner panel. Each teardrop sits in a serrated silver bezel with small round silver beads set between the points, and the inner panel carries a vertical row of five round turquoise stones mounted on stamped silver bars framed by a twisted rope. The stones run from deep green through blue-green to bright blue, and the silver is oxidized in the recesses throughout. At 17.01 grams in a US size 6 1/4, it is a tall, elaborate ring made for wear.

Larry Frank was a collector and scholar based in Taos, New Mexico, and the author of Indian Silver Jewelry of the Southwest, 1868 to 1930 and New Kingdom of the Saints.
