This Zuni pendant necklace stacks two stones in a modernist silver setting hung from a heavy box chain. A textured square frame holds a mottled grey stone above a longer tab of banded brown stone, the lower setting bordered by cut out and stamped silverwork with applied 14kt gold accents. The deep tool textured surfaces and asymmetric framing mark it as contemporary studio work rather than a traditional form.
Made by Myron Panteah, a Zuni and Navajo silversmith known for modernist overlay and tufa cast jewelry that departs from traditional Southwestern styles. His work combines Zuni and Navajo technique with a contemporary design sensibility, using stamping, overlay, and mixed metals. Panteah's jewelry is collected for this individual studio approach within contemporary Native American silverwork.
