A pin worked with a splayed hand in channel inlaid turquoise, the stones cut and fitted into recesses cut through the sterling ground. Above the hand sits a stepped cloud terrace with a lightning form, inlaid in matching turquoise and set off by incised lines in the silver. The turquoise is natural, ranging from blue to deep green with dark matrix, the inlay sitting flush with the surrounding metal.
Larry Frank was a Taos collector and scholar, co-author of Indian Silver Jewelry of the Southwest 1868 to 1930 and New Kingdom of the Saints.
