This monkey mask (Ngon) probably comes from the Koulikoro region at the center of the Bamana cultural zone in Mali. It is characteristic of masks from this area due to its structural composition: the forehead is domed, rising from a flat, elongated face with four square eye holes on either side of a prominent nasal bone. The sculptural force of the minimalist face is striking. Ancient patina on all surfaces.
